Wellbeing of Women: Fellowships

Wellbeing of Women’s (WoW) ambition is to find cures and develop new tests and treatments that will save and change the lives of women, girls and babies. They aim to achieve this by investing in high-quality, innovative research addressing areas of unmet need, as well as developing promising researchers to become academic leaders in women's health. Wellbeing of Women offer the following types of fellowship:

Research Training Fellowships:

  • Research Training Fellowships provide a foundation in research training for medical graduates, midwives, nurses and allied health professionals (AHPs). Candidates are expected to undertake a higher degree (PhD or MD) that will underpin their development as a future clinical academic leader. Awards are intended to support candidates to pursue a career in academic medicine and help build capacity in the field of obstetrics, gynaecology or related to women’s reproductive health. (Deadline: 30 June 2022)

Doctoral and Post-Doctoral Fellowships

  • NIHR-WoW Doctoral Fellowships: Provide the opportunity to undertake exciting and impactful research that will underpin a researcher’s development as an independent future leader. The Doctoral Fellowship funds researchers to undertake a PhD. (Deadline: 21 July 2022)
  • WoW-BGCS Postdoctoral Research Fellowships: Co-funded by the British Gynaecological Cancer Society. Support early career health professionals and scientists in the field of gynaecological oncology to gather data and strengthen their bids for longer-term substantive funding. (Deadline: 30 June 2022)
  • Sir Victor & Lady Blank Postdoctoral Research Fellowships: Support early career researchers to gather data and strengthen their bids for longer-term substantive funding. (Deadline: 30 June 2022)
  • WoW-RCM Postdoctoral Research Fellowships: Co-funded by the Royal College of Midwives and the Burdett Trust for Nursing. Support early career midwife researchers to gather data and strengthen their bids for longer-term substantive funding. (Deadline: 30 June 2022)
  • WoW-RCP Postdoctoral Research Fellowships: Co-funded by the Royal College of Physicians. Support early career physician researchers to gather data and strengthen their bids for longer-term substantive funding. (Deadline: 30 June 2022)

Entry Level Scholarships

  • WoW Entry level Scholarships: Enable graduates to develop research interests in women’s reproductive and gynaecological health. (Deadline: 30 June 2022)
  • WoW-RCM Entry Level Scholarships: Co-funded by the Royal College of Physicians and the Burdett Trust for Nursing. Enable midwives to develop research interests in midwifery, maternity services or with a focus on women’s reproductive health. (Deadline: 30 June 2022)
  • WoW-BMFMS Entry Level Scholarships: Co-funded by the British Maternal & Fetal Medicine Society. Enable obstetricians and other professional involved in pregnancy care to develop interests in research to improve maternal and fetal health and the improvement pregnancy care. (Deadline: 30 June 2022)
  • WoW-BGCS Entry Level Scholarships: Co-funded by the British Gynaecological Cancer Society. Enable healthcare professionals and scientists to develop interests in research to improve outcomes for women with gynaecological cancers. (Deadline: 30 June 2022)

WoW-BSSVD Entry Level Scholarships: Co-funded by the British Society for the Study of Vulval Disease. Enable healthcare professionals to develop interests in research to improve outcomes for women with vulval conditions. (Deadline: 30 June 2022)
