NIHR: Optimisation of Cellular Therapies

  Tuesday, 13 Dec 2022 | Funding Deadline

The NIHR invites applications for a single research project on the optimisation of cellular therapies. Cellular therapies are an important and developing field with potential to treat common and rare diseases. This call is intended to partly address the need to support development of delivery of cellular therapies by optimising technologies that will be needed to deliver cellular therapies at scale.

There are two areas of focus for the call:

  1. Optimisation of cryopreservation techniques for cell therapies. This is intended to support both existing mature stem cell transplantation supply chains and the developing advanced cellular therapies field to provide increased resilience and efficiency to established supply chains while developing robust future supply chains.
  2. Research and development of CAR-T manufacturing capacity in the UK. This work is intended as seed funding and an explanation of how this will enable the funded organisation to take this work beyond the current funding to benefit patients by promoting the development and delivery of CAR-T therapies in the UK, will be an important part of assessment of applications.

Deadline for proposals: 13 December 2022
