NIHR Global Research Professorships

This funding call is now open, and there is an important extension to the eligibility criteria for host institutions.

Applicants for this five-year personal award must be nominated by the higher education institution (HEI) or research institute in which they are employed. In a change to the criteria for host institutions in 2021, the following are now eligible:

  • HEIs or research institutes in low and middle income countries which are already partners in:
  • NIHR-funded Global Health Research funded units and groups
  • NIHR-funded Global Health Policy and Systems Research (GHPSR) programmes
  • NIHR-funded Research and Innovation for Global Health Transformation (RIGHT) programmes
  • Existing NIHR Global Research Professorships
  • HEIs across the UK, which may include relevant partner organisations in low and middle income countries in their application

Applicants must be able to demonstrate an outstanding record of relevant research and its translation for improved health and welfare of people in low and middle income countries. Deadline for applications Wednesday 1 December 2021 at 1pm (GMT).
