Research already tells us that social, economic and environmental factors are of the utmost importance in determining healthy older age. The pandemic has further highlighted their importance, and the current context provides a real opportunity to develop better understanding of the systemic changes needed to improve outcomes.
The call is designed to support academic and clinical researchers partnered with community organisations, to conduct innovative research focussing on interventions targeting the social determinants of healthy older age. The aim is to attract proposals that, in the short-to-medium term, have the potential for direct and measurable impact on the wider health and social care of older people in the UK and/or associated policy and practice.
