Connect Immune Research Initiative: Targeting shared mechanisms in autoimmune conditions

  Wednesday, 13 Oct 2021 | Funding Deadline

Connect Immune Research is a partnership seeking to address the challenge of collaborating across disease-specific silos to tackle many conditions at once. The type 1 diabetes charity JDRF, the MS Society, and Versus Arthritis – as well as the supporting partner the British Society for Immunology – want to know how immune disorders are linked. To be more specific, ‘what are the common mechanisms of autoimmunity and immune mediated inflammation?’

The Chernajovsky Foundation and Connect Immune Research have come together as a consortium to fund pilot grants aimed at quickly developing proof of principle new treatments for multiple autoimmune conditions, by targeting pathways common in autoimmunity.

Connect Immune Research is a group of organisations that includes:

  • Alopecia UK
  • Bowel Research UK
  • Coeliac UK
  • The Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation
  • The British Society for Immunology
  • The Multiple Sclerosis Society
  • The Psoriasis and Psoriatic Arthritis Alliance • Versus Arthritis

Deadline for proposals: 13 October 2021
